Migration Expeditions is African Bush Camps first property situated in Nxai Pan National Park, Botswana. Nxai Pan is one of Makgadikgadi’s natural salt pans and is located on the northern border of the national park. The area itself is bound to bring out your adventurous side and export you to days gone by.
Open from December till the end of March, Migration Expeditions is accessible by road or helicopter from Maun. The camp comprises of 6 Meru-style tents, each authentically designed and has an en-suite bathroom with bucket showers.
Nxai National Park is significant for Botswana’s iconic zebra migration which brings large herds of zebras and other herbivores into the area. The zebras and plains game moves through the area feeding on greener pastures. It is here that they drop their young. The appearance of the migration and the young animals brings an increase of predator activity.
Activities include visits to Baines’ Baobabs (a cluster of magnificent upside-down trees situated at the edge of Kudiakam Pan. Daily game drives are also on offer and give safari goers the chance to see fantastic migratory birding opportunities, large elephant bulls, the iconic Kalahari lion, cheetah, spotted hyena and oryx.
