Porini Lion Camp

Porini Lion Camp is located in the exclusive 20,000 acre Olare Orok Conservancy. This expansive conservancy, which borders the Masai Mara Game Reserve is home to an abundance of animals including the Big Cats for which the Mara is famous.
The eco-friendly camp has no permanent construction and is situated along the Ntiakatiak River, a seasonal river with permanent hippo pools near camp. With 10 guest tents the camp is very exclusive and giving you a real in the bush experience. The tents are very spacious and have private verandahs along the length of the tent, providing a secluded and private 'space' for you to relax and enjoy the beauty of this African wilderness. Each tent has en-suite bathrooms with flush toilets and hot showers. Food is excellent with fresh baked bread and high quality meals prepared by the camp Chef.
Qualified safari guides enhance the experience by educating the guests about the flora, fauna and people of the surrounding areas. Guests are taken on day and night game drives in our custom built open-sided 4x4's. In the evening they are taken to a scenic spot, to enjoy a drink while watching the sun go down. A night game drive is taken on the way back to camp, giving guests the opportunity to see many of the elusive nocturnal animals. Maasai warriors escort guests on a walk in the conservancy where they can learn about how the various indigenous animals and plants are used by the community and how their way of life is intertwined with their surroundings.
The new Porini Lion Camp, located in the vast 20,000 acre Olare Orok Conservancy is the ideal base from which to experience the million strong wildebeest migration.
Location
The camp is situated only a few kilometers from the Mara Game Reserve and a 30-minute drive from the Talek Gate. The Ol Kiombo airstrip used by the daily scheduled flights to Mara from Nairobi is a short 25-minute drive from camp.
Daily Programme
During your stay, clients will normally have a programme as follows, but of course we're flexible and there to cater to what you'd like
Day 1
Depart Nairobi Wilson Airport at 10 am for your 50 minute flight into the heart of the Masai Mara National Reserve. You'll be met at the airstrip by your safari guide from Lion Camp in open-sided 4x4 safari vehicle and will immediately be "on safari" in the Mara. Enjoy the day in the Mara with a picnic lunch on the look out for the Big Cats. Then drive to Lion Camp and settle into your tent. Afternoon game drive, followed by a sundowner at a scenic point. Return to camp for a shower, dinner and overnight.
Day 2
Awake at dawn to the natural sounds of Masai Mara's birdlife. After early morning tea you will have a game drive in the conservancy on the lookout for the Big Five! Return to camp for breakfast followed by a morning nature walk across the plains escorted by Maasai warriors returning for lunch. In the afternoon you will go on a game drive in Olare Orok Conservancy, stopping for a sundowner at a scenic viewpoint, followed by a night game drive to look for nocturnal animals. Return to camp for dinner and overnight.
Day 3
Early morning walk in the Conservancy with Maasai warriors, followed by breakfast. Then depart on the flight back to Nairobi, arriving around 12.15 pm
