In the centre of Katavi National park lies Katuma, a charming Bush Lodge that offers a riveting bush experience with breathtaking views over the vast plains of Katisunga.

Katuma Bush Lodge has been designed to blend in with its surroundings to avoid distraction from the beauty of Katavi. The Lodge underwent a full refurbishment in 2011 but retains an African simplicity and is an idyllic base for exploring the spectacular wildlife of this remote and wild Park.

The brand new Mess area consists of a comfortable guest lounge, a spacious dining facility and spectacular viewing and swimming pool deck. The central fireplace on the main deck creates a warm and inviting ambience allowing our guests to arrive as strangers but leave as friends.

Meals are freshly flavoured, aromatic and accompanied with tropical fruits and juices. On the last evening of your stay, a barbecue will be served under the shade of tamarind trees, so you can reflect on the unforgettable experiences you've had at Katavi while watching the sun setting over the plains.

Katavi National Park

The name 'Katavi' immortalizes the legendary hunter, 'Katabi', whose spirit is believed to possess a local tamarind tree tinged with offerings from locals begging his blessings.

Tanzania's third largest national park - Isolated, untrammelled and seldom visited, Katavi is a true wilderness, providing the few visitors who make it there with a thrilling taste of Africa as it must have been a century ago.

Accommodation

Katuma Bush Lodge consists of spacious and comfortably furnished Safari tents on raised wooden platforms, each with a writing desk, lamps, fine linen and en-suite facilities offering step-in showers with a full range of amenities.

The Tent's private balconies allows for excellent views over the plains.

Activities

Game Viewing is exceptionally rewarding at Katavi due to the sheer abundance of wildlife, we tend to begin game viewing at dawn and again late in the afternoon.

Game drives in our 4 X 4 vehicles centre around the woodland areas along the seasonal lakes, where most of the game can be found including the big cats.

For those who want to get even closer to nature, Walking Safaris are also on offer early mornings when the light is at it's best.
