Luangwa River Camp lies on the banks of the Luangwa River forming the border of the world renowned South Luangwa National Park in Zambia and marks the end of the Great Rift Valley. It is perhaps one of the few last unspoilt wilderness areas and one of the finest wildlife sanctuary in Africa and covers an area of over 9,000 sq. km.
The ox bow lagoons, Miombo woodland and plains of the Luangwa Valley host vast concentrations of game including elephant, buffalo, leopard, lion, giraffe, hippo, wild dog and the puku, endemic to the region. The area also boasts over 400 species of birds.
Nestled under an ancient ebony grove and overlooking the Wafwa Oxbow Lagoon, lies the intimate and exclusive owner-run Luangwa River Camp, accommodating a maximum of five couples at any one time.
Accommodation
“ The Luangwa River Camp consists of just five Bush Suites — thus catering for no more than 10 guests at any one time”.
Our five brick and thatch Bush Suites are individually named and all feature unique decorative themes. accommodate double or twin beds. Hot and cold running water, twin sinks, shower, sunken baths (large enough for two people).
Overhead fans in both the bedroom and bathroom. Walk in mosquito nets as well as a sealed mosquito proof room (as long as the doors are kept shut!) Large free-standing fans inside the mosquito nets.
All Bush Suites have 240v plug sockets and hairdryers (we also have 110v converters). Wardrobe and vanity table with rechargeable electric lanterns, candles and matches provided.
All suites have private decks with covered Bomas affording great views over the river and park. Both the bedroom and bathroom have large folding doors leading to the outside deck.
