Bomani Tented Lodge
Hwange National Park, Zimbabwe - Classic 4
Welcome to Bomani Tented Lodge: immersing yourself in wildlife and nature.
Situated inside the Ngamo Forest area, Bomani is located within our 5,000-acre remote private reserve: only 1.5 kilometres away from Ngamo's gate to Hwange National Park. The area was once an ancient fossil lake, which over time became submerged by Kalahari sands from the west. Today, the expansive plains are dotted with natural water pans and Ilala Palms; offering a peaceful sanctuary to the countless herds of wildlife that call the area home.
With the help of local builders, carpenters and thatchers, we opened Bomani Tented Lodge in 2000. Over time we have expanded, but we remain an intimate and exclusive destination. We now comprise of nine large luxury tents and one sumptuous thatched bungalow.
Five of our Serengeti tents roost upon spacious Zambezi teak platforms, which at five foot above ground level, offer stunning views across the open grasslands. The other four, along with the bungalow, are at ground level and a little closer to nature. Their verandas are the perfect spot for early morning coffee or a nightcap under the stars. Every tent is elegantly furnished and comfortable, each with a private en-suite bathroom, hot running water and electricity. Your private canvas sanctuary is incredibly secure and designed to keep out all creatures great and small. And although it's equipped to deal with all weathers, during the cooler months we'll pop a hot water bottle in your bed to ensure you're kept snug.
Our main lodge overlooks Bomani pan and comprises of an open dining room, bar area and lounge, built on a spectacular viewing platform. You can enjoy your breakfast whilst watching zebra and wildebeest quietly graze, or sip a sundowner as giraffe and elephant soak up the day's final rays. During the chilly winter evenings, our open fireplaces keep the room warm and cosy. You can even snuggle up under a blanket around the outdoor fire pit and enjoy a glass of red wine with canapés, whilst listening to the sounds of the African bush.
All of our team are recruited from the local surrounding areas and love nothing more than to immerse you in our famous African hospitality. The chef uses only locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. Everything from your full English breakfast, afternoon tea and three course evening meal is cooked on the coal iron stove. If you ask nicely, he might even show you around. We handpick our collection of South African wines from only a select few producers and serve a range of premium spirits. We focus on quality, consistency and flexibility, so whatever you need don't hesitate in letting us know.
Whether you're after the perfect honeymoon destination, or an adventure safari away from the crowds, you need look no further. We do not set rigid schedules. Instead, we prefer to tailor your time around you – it's your safari after all. You can be woken with coffee in bed, before joining one of our trained licensed guides on a sunrise game drive. Or opt for a lie-in, before breakfast in an armchair and a village tour.
However you choose to spend your time with us, we know you will leave Bomani not only having experienced a true taste of Africa, in spectacular surroundings, but also having contributed towards changing peoples' lives.
